This photographic series explores the tension and discomfort between an individual and his environment. The photographs function as existential portraits, in which the human figure and the space express a psychological debacle through a physical endeavor. The setting is often an inhospitable, idealized space driven by detail and precision in its construction. I use wit and humor to create abnormal yet comical desperate situations. This work is influenced by artists such as Li Wei, Erwin Wurm in which actions of the everyday life are turned into casual absurdities. My desire behind each scenario was to create a puzzle charged with figurative meaning and disillusionment. The resulting imaginary situations are detached from the outside world yet are pressured through their very presence to elicit a connection with reality.
